Our class visit Kentwell

On Wednesday 19th June Year 5 spent a wonderful day at Kentwell Tudor House.

We took part in a Tudor re-enactment dressed as Tudor peasants and learnt how Tudors lived.

We were all very excited as we passed through the time tunnel and entered Tudor times!

We are now writing a recount of our day!

Visit to the Tate Gallery!

Class 5B went on a trip yesterday to the Tate Modern and Globe theatre.
The topic for the whole school, this summer, is 'What lies Beneath'.  We have been discussing the 150th anniversary of the London underground system so it was good to travel by underground to St. Pauls.

Then we went across the Millennium Bridge and visited the Tate Modern.

The children sketched sculptures there.

After lunch we walked along the Thames and sat down to sketch the Globe theatre. The weather was fabulous and the South Bank was crowded. Some passers by commented on the children's drawings - how good they were!

Monday 22nd April was the start of Science Week...

5B have been really enjoying science week. On Monday we made sundials decorating them with blue tissue paper and silver stars.

On Tuesday and Wednesday we took our sundials outside to mark where the sun left its shadow at different times of the day and also look at how long that shadow was.

We found that the shadow was shortest at midday when the sun was at its highest point directly above us. The shadows were longest at the start and end of the day when the sun was lower in the sky.

William Morris - Art Week

In year 5 this week we have been working with an artist. We have been looking at designs by William Morris. We have used our environmental area to draw designs for two large wall hangings. Some children are using the designs to make fabric leaves and flowers which will be attached to the hangings.

Here are some photos of us in action!....

Book Week

Monday 28th January was the start of book week. We had a 'Book Character Day', when we had to dress up as our favourite book character. There were some amazing outfits - shown in the pictures below:

Also we shared some of our favourite books with children in Class 2OL. They really enjoyed listening to our stories.

We also had  bedtime stories when we had to bring in our pyjamas to put on in the afternoon!

Carols for Christmas

For Christmas this year, we have been singing Christmas Carols for all the children and parents at Fairlop. We have had to have lots of practice thanks to our teachers!
We also paid a visit to the Redhouse Public House and Restaurant where we sang for the people that visited the restaurant.
We have really enjoyed our singing this term!

3T Class Assembly

Welcome to the blog about 3T’s class assembly. In our assembly we told everybody including our parents that this year in year 3 we have learned about 3 exciting topics with fantastic trips. In year 3 there are these topics:

ROMANS, RECYCLING, EGYPTIANS. These are the 3 exciting topics. Now I will tell you about tutankhamun. You must be wondering who tutankhamun is? Well this is the most famous pharaoh in Egypt without a doubt.  He became pharaoh at the tender age of nine in 1337 BC and reigned during the 18th dynasty when the Egyptian empire was at its height. He reigned from about 1333 to 1324 BC.
Thank you for taking the time to read our blog!
