1D CHRISTMAS PARTY
Our Christmas Party is on Monday December 15th in the afternoon. The children in 1D are responsible for bringing sweets and desserts for the party/tea. The children are allowed to bring party clothes to change into for the party. We will be taking part in games and activities in our class and then will be going to the hall for a party with year one and two. If your child has a food allergy please provide your own set of food with your child's name on it.
Hope eveyone is feeling better by then!

Dictionary Work
In literacy we have been learning about dictionaries. The children have been very keen to look up new words or words that they don't know how to spell. The class took some time to look through a dictionary and explore. The children saw that the words were in alphabetical order. We then played a learning game where I told the children a word and they used their own dictionary to find it. The children really liked this "Can you find a word?" game. After we looked at the dictionaries we found three words from the dictionary and listed them in alphabetical order. This was a really fun and interesting lesson.
Collecting Data
We have been making pictograms in maths. In this math lesson the children collected data on their own wipe board. We looked at the different colours of sweets in a package and put them into groups. We then counted how many sweets were in each group and wrote the information on a chart. The children used the information to make a pictogram.

Painting Autumn Trees
The children really enjoy taking part in this art activity. First we went outside and looked at the leaves and discussed how they were different in Autumn compared to the summer. We then discussed the different colours of the leaves and then painted the tress on big sheets of paper. The children listened to music while they painted their masterpieces.

Rama and Sita Puppets
In literacy this week we have been learning how to write instructions. We linked writing instructions with making puppets for religious education. We listened to the story about Rama and Sita which is told during the celebration of Diwali. We made the puppets and then we wrote the instructions. The instructions were:
How to make a puppet.
1. First you colour the puppet.
2. Then you cut the puppet out.
3. Next you glue sparkles onto the puppet.
4. Finally you tape on a lolly stick and play with the puppet.
The children really enjoyed making thier puppets.
